Handicap Index
1. To be eligible for membership, a player’s handicap index must fall within the
range of 18.0 and 33.0, inclusive.
2. A non-member whose handicap either decreases or increases to within the M– PG handicap range
(18.0–33.0) during the golf season may join the association as an alternate team member,
provided she meets the requirements described earlier. She will be eligible to substitute in
team matches and play in tournaments.
3. A member whose handicap index goes above 33.0 during the golf season may retain her
membership, but she must play to the M–PG upper limit of 33.0.
4. A member of this association whose handicap index drops below 18.0 during the season may join the Women’s District Golf Association (WDCGA). If she opts to remain with M–PG, she must play to her current earned index.
5. If a player chooses to join a WDCGA team, she is not eligible to be a M–PG team member.
However, she may join M–PG as an alternate team member, entitling her to substitute in team matches and play in tournaments.
6. Handicaps are computed under the United States Golf Association (USGA) Slope System.
7. Per the rules of the World Handicap System, all scores must be posted on the day of play, as
well as year-round if played on “open” courses. Local courses are not “open” winter courses. Local
scores may be posted only between March 15 and November 15. Rounds played on open winter courses between November 15 and
March 15 must be posted.
